Emergency Preparedness
The above Citizen Toolkit has been developed by the city of Garden City to help our residents, businesses and guests prepare to safely face a variety of emergencies. We hope that you will find the information provided helpful, and that you will not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Please take some time and review the guide to ensure that you and your family are prepared for potential disasters. Additional information can also be found on our Emergency Management page.
When emergency situations occur: stay informed!
Emergency Alert Service
Garden City and Chatham County provides a free e-subscription service that enables the public to subscribe to emergency alerts via email or text.
This e-subscription service will be used to provide emergency information. Garden City will only utilize the "Emergency Alerts" Topic of our e-subscription service during an emergency or disaster, particularly in an evacuation or during the recovery from an event which has caused significant damage. The City encourages residents to sign-up for the e-subscription service and link it to their cell phone so that the messages will be received in a timely manner (standard text messaging rates will apply).
Please go to Smart911 to register for the Emergency Alert Service.
