Garden City is a bedroom community located directly next to the City of Savannah and located northwest of the center of Chatham County. It is bordered to the southeast by the City of Savannah, to the west by the city of Pooler, and to the north by the city of Port Wentworth. Garden City has a total area of 14.3 square miles of which 13.7 square miles is land and .62 square miles, or 4.35 percent, is water.

Established in 1939, Garden City has both a residential, industrial, and commercial presence attributed to the Georgia Ports Authority - Garden City Terminal bordering the City to the east while also boasting beautiful scenic marshes to its south. There is a little bit of everything in Garden City to include marshes and waterways, historic bungalows, large trucking and warehouse facilities, major highway thoroughfare and roads, mobile home parks, libraries, parks, a formal courtroom in City Hall, and so much more!

The Savannah Area Film Office, a certified Film Commission, is another point of contact for entertainment production in our region. The Film Office promotes the area as a premiere film destination for motion picture, television, and commercial productions. The Savannah Film Office functions as a liaison between film companies and various municipalities in the area to include Garden City. They also provide location assistance and coordination with local crew and support services.
