Does my home or business have to have an address number posted on it?

Yes, in accordance with Building Code and Section 18-9 of the City's Code of Ordinances, every resident or building is required to have an address number at least 4 inches tall mounted on the main structure where it is clearly visible from the street. This is to ensure that Police, Fire Department, and Paramedics can respond quickly and accurately in time of need. What is stormwater?

Stormwater is water that flows over yards, streets, buildings, parking lots, and other surfaces when it rains. Stormwater runoff flows into local streams, canals, and wetland areas and, eventually, ends up in the Savannah River, or recharges the local groundwater table.

Does Garden City accept credit cards and/or debit cards?

Yes. Garden City Police, Parks and Recreation (in person), and Garden City Utilities accept credit cards and debit cards.

Does Garden City accept checks over the phone?

No Garden City does not accept checks over the phone.

How much is the water deposit?

$125.00

Why can’t I get my deposit back when I discontinue water service?

Because the Billing Department has to follow several procedures such as reading your meter again, etc. to ensure that your final bill is correct before we can refund your deposit.

When is the cut off date?

10 days after the bill is due. All bills are due on the 5th of the month, so the cut off day is the 15th.

When does my bill have to be paid before you cut me off?

Before the 15th of the month.

Why do you need a copy of your lease to apply for a water/sewer account?

To make sure that the customer is the renter/owner of the property of the account holder. Basically, to deter fraud.

Why is my bill so high?

There may be a leak or your usage has increased.
