Strategic Plan
An Ongoing City and Community Initiative from May 2013 through December 2013

Your Strategic Plan – Participation is Critical!
The Strategic Plan will identify the vision, key goals, and top priorities that will guide our City’s decisions and investments in the next ten years. The Strategic Plan is not your typical planning process – the citizens of Garden City will be driving the process and taking the lead in defining the vision, goals, and priorities!
The Why: The Strategic Plan will shape the direction our City moves in for the future. In order to develop a strategy grounded in the community’s vision, we need to know what the community values most. Every voice of Garden City is important to this process.
The When: The Strategic Plan will be developed between May through December of 2013, with its completion designed to dovetail into the upcoming 75th Anniversary of our City in 2014! The initial Public Kick-off Celebration will occur on July 18, 2013.

Celebrate, Compete, & Engage – Our Community Will Make the Plan!
This planning process is all about you – the residents, the businesses, and community members of our Garden City! The City’s main goal for the study is to hear from our community members and develop a tailored work program that helps move top priorities towards realization in a practical and realistic manner. Below are the key activities you can expect. Look for details soon!
- Public Kick-off Celebration – This event will be held on July 18th to initiate the public visioning process, collect input from the public, and promote other Strategic Plan activities.
- Roundtables – The roundtables will be guided discussions with community members led by community members. These groups will identify the key goals/priorities for our city’s future. We are looking for leaders of these groups. Please contact us to sign up.
- Contests – Three contests will be held throughout the planning process to inspire all ages of the community to think creatively about Garden City’s future!
- Youth Engagement Program – This will extend through the duration of the visioning process and will be coordinated with the Savannah Chatham County Public Schools and Garden City Parks and Recreation Department.
- Seniors Engagement Program – Look for a booth at the City’s Senior Center soon where you can record memories of Garden City. Participants will be asked specifically to consider the changes Garden City has undergone in its 75 years as a city.
- Plan Review Celebration – This event will showcase the results of the planning process and the draft recommendations. We will celebrate the planning process to date in coordination with the City’s October Fall Festival.
